1. Step 1: Choose Mounting Location: Select a wall stud in your garage at least 30 inches wide and with enough clearance for the door width. Mark stud locations using a stud finder. Mounting into drywall alone will not support the weight—use lag bolts into studs.
2. Step 2: Attach the Storage Bar to the Wall: Hold the bar level against the wall at a height where the bottom of the doors will clear the floor by 2–3 inches. Drill pilot holes through the mounting plates into the studs, then secure with the included hardware. Double-check level with a bubble level; an uneven bar can cause doors to lean and stress the hinges.
3. Step 3: Remove Doors from Your Jeep: On TJ/JK models, remove the hinge pin bolts and lift doors off. On JL/JT models, unplug the electrical connector, remove the check strap bolt, and lift doors upward to disengage hinges. Place doors on a soft blanket or moving blanket to protect paint during removal.
4. Step 4: Hang Doors on the Storage Bar: Align the door hinge pins with the bar's hooks and lower the door so the pins rest in the hooks. Repeat for the second door on the opposite side. Doors hang by the hinge pins—make sure each pin fully seats in the hook to prevent slipping.
